It is a practical introduction to the Christian Faith and gives the Christian perspective on
" THE MEANING OF LIFE "

Alpha is a 15 - session course over 12 weeks.
This course has changed the lives of many thousands of people in the UK and throughout the world. Currently this course is running in 7,300 UK churches (official Alpha information).

At New Life Baptist Church many have come to faith and are now active partners in the Church as a result of finding the reality of Jesus Christ through Alpha.

WHAT IS ALPHA?

The Alpha course comprises of talks by Nicky Gumble, based on his book " Questions of Life ". Nicky is a great communicator and his talks are stimulating and full of amusing and helpful illustrations and anecdotes.
These talks have been videoed at live presentations of Alpha sessions run by Nicky in London, so there is a real sense of atmosphere and of sharing with others on this journey.

Some of the subjects covered are:

Who is Jesus?
Why did Jesus die?
How can I be sure of my faith?
Who is the Holy Spirit?
How does God guide us today?
Does God heal today?

The Alpha format

Informal and interactive and no charge is made for the course.
Each session starts with a meal where people can relax and get to build relationships.
This is followed by the video talk.
Then a short break for coffee/tea.
For the remaining 30 - 40 minutes there is an open discussion on the topic for that evening.
The evening starts at around 7.15 pm and ends at 9.30 pm. There is also opportunity given for one to one discussions and prayer where requested.

Christianity is all about a relationship with Jesus Christ. During these weeks on Alpha, those attending have the opportunity to open themselves up to meeting with God and starting the most wonderful and important relationship in their lives!

WHO IS ALPHA FOR?

Alpha is for people who would class themselves as non-Christian or are not sure about their faith.
Alpha is for Christians who want to relearn or revisit the basic foundations of their faith.
Alpha is for those Christians who have grown cold in their faith and need " firing up again ".
1 Peter 3 v 15 says we should " always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have."
