FAithWorks
Faithworks is an umbrella group, which seeks to enable the gospel to be seen practically at work both within the community and the nation as a whole. It identifies with THE NATIONAL FAITHWORKS is a robust organisation set up by Steve Chalk (http://www.faithworks.info & see * below). Here at NLBC, it works st several levels.
- It provides encouragement and support to all those people who are seeking to ‘live out’ their faith by their engagement with the community. For example, those who serve as School Governors, local Councillors, and all of those who seek to provide practical help etc.
- It seeks to engage politicians and decision-makers to include the Churches in their decision and planning processes and.
- It provides ‘think-tank’ for new ideas/ministries and develop/validate new work as being God-led.
- It was hoped that it would facilitate internal communication both to and from the elders and help the church to prioritise resources, thus ensuring no unnecessary overlap.
- To apply the principals of the Faithworks Charter which has been developed
by the national Faithworks organisation, as a kind of ‘kite mark’
standard for Christian ministries. It is available on their web site.
* THE FAITHWORKS MOVEMENT - is a robust response to the challenges facing churches and faith-based projects as they engage in their communities. It is built around ten leading organisations that have committed to work together to provide expertise and leadership in the many components of effective community action.
Many leading denominations and church networks have joined the Faithworks Movement, as Associates, recognising the potential in the range of services and resources Faithworks is developing for their churches.
The Council of Reference is drawn from 20 leading faith-based organisations
