Stan the Man

Stan Wavrinka's shorts

Yesterday Stan the Man (Wawrinka) stunned Novak Djokovic in an epic battle to win the French Tennis Open.  In his post-match interview Stan said 'it was my shorts that won it.'  The most garish pair of shorts in the history of tennis have now been donated to the Roland Garros Tennis Museum for all to see.  I hope he gave them a wash first.

Of course it wasn't the shorts that won it.  It was a combination of skill strength, fitness, and a resolute determination to get his hands on the prize.  Stan at the ripe old age of 30 really is the Man to look to for inspiration in the tennis world.

But what about the everyday world that we inhabit?  Who do we look to for inspiration?  The bible suggests another thirtysomething who just didn't know how to give up.

'Let us fix our eyes upon Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.'

Jesus is the Man we should all look to for inspiration.  Consider him.
