The Illumination of the Cross

illuminated cross

The darkness cannot defeat the light.

In the introduction to John's Gospel the author paints a picture of what was going on at the dawn of time.

What we see is truly illuminating... A light bright enough to overcome the darkness. This pastel drawing by Nigel Cook portrays that light in the shape of a cross.

This tells us something very significant about the heart of God - He has loved you and me with a passion since before the world began.

If we want to find illumination in our darkness, the cross of Jesus Christ is a good place to start.
